PostSubject: One Bad Day.   One Bad Day. Icon_minitime1Wed Jul 23, 2008 9:15 pm

If you are squeemish please stop reading.

I took a little trip today that reminded me of how quickly things can and do change. I saw that radio shack had an in store clearence of zipzaps ($6.95 for the camaro or mustang, 10 for the semi) and xmods ($14.95). But of course all of the local RS's were sold out... as luck would have it there was a store by my first college that had some of the xmods left, it was about 40 miles away. I decided it would be worth the drive if I took time to visit some old friends. Right after I left the RS I was following a full size Hummer (the H1) and as we came to an intersection a car on the side street was blinded by the setting sun and ran the stop sign. The Hummer's driver swerved to avoid it and hit a large decoritive boulder in front of a Mexican resturant.

The Hummer was barely dented, nothing a new front bumper wont fix. I went up to the Hummer to see if the driver was alright. He wasn't moving and there was a lot of blood comming from his head (it hit the windshield). I was going to call an ambulance but another person who saw it happen was already on the phone. I coul go ino gorry detail but suffice it to say he didn't make it.

The reason I'm posting this is, if he had been wearing a seat belt he would have been home with his kids tonight. Maybe he would have sat the table and made a joke about his wifes cooking...but because one one small mistake, two or three seconds of error his family will be in shock tonight, then by morning they will be feeling the full impact. One stupid mistake compounded by his decision (or forgetfullness) to not wear his seatbelt.

When I got done talking to the Highway Patrol officer I climbed back into my car and a shudder went up my spine...I realized that when I came out of the RadioShack I hadn't put my seatbelt back on. One or two seconds latter and that would have been me slamming into my windshield.

The moral of this story kids is please, when you get to driving age, wear your seatbelts. If you are already driving please remember to fasten that belt no matter how short the trip; I was only going a few blocks to a buddy's house. And if you have a parent, brother, sister, friend, etc. ask them to buckle-up too. They may get upset, they may laugh at you, it doesn't matter...at least if they listen they will be more likely to sit at their dinner table and joke with their kids, or pick on their wifes cooking, or maybe sit and beat you in a kick game of Metal Gear.

Yeah, I almost didn't post it because it is sad...but I thought if it gets someone to buckel-up and saves them then its worth it. Sorry ...but I hope it helps someone.

That is a really story, but think of how it will effect you in the years to come, do to the fact that you watched someone die.

I never go anywhere with out a seat belt on, execpt on my bike. lol

Its sad, but, I have seen people die in cars before...the thing that really got to me was that this guy was probably about my age and he didn't do anything wrong. Well except no seat belt and he should have hit the car, its way softer. I doubt that anyone would have been hurt badly, but then people panic...it happens to the best of drivers.

Oh yeah, and without going into more depressing details from my past...if you ride a motorcycle wear a helmet. I don't care how dorky they can look, they are worth the effort.

Good deal Shaun, thats why I posted it. I figgured if a Hummer couldn't protect someone without a belt then most of us don't stand a chance. And I'll admit it, I have been one of the peoplewho wear theirs sometimes but not always. I used to always wear one but then they passed a law saying you had to and I just don't like Bg Brother telling me what to do... but this convinced me that its a good idea even if the government wants it.

I don't know why the airbags didn't go off...but from everything I've read they can kill you easily if your not wearing your seatblet or your overweight or diabetic (I'm not sure why on that one) or a bunch of other reasons. So if nothing else it god to wear the beltto save you from the "saftey" device. I hate Ralph Nader (only Bilbo will get that one).

Yeah, he keeps running for President...actually he couldn't be any worse than the pair of moons we have running now...anyway, he's the schiester lawer who pushed to make airbags manidtory in all US cars. He hates freedom and so part of the law makes it ileagle to dissable the airbag in you own car. He bought a company that makes rado detectors and then he starts a media campaing to convince people that they need to buy a radon detector because they might be getting cancer if its in their house (of cousre the odds of it being in your house are around 13 million to 1). He tried to put GM and Volkswagon out of business....

If you're interested here'sa pretty good site that shows some of the crap he's done.http://www.realchange.org/nader.htm#hypocrite

OK, now I'll stop before this becomes a political thing...

Naw, only if you were old enough to follow through on that threat (the Obama thing). But since most of the board isn't old enough why bother...you'll learn soon enough that no matter which one is elected were still all :censored: If you get a chance read the book Animal Farm and remember, the pigs (in the book) are all politicans eventully.

That's not the worst things they did...but I'd better not get started. In my lifetime I can remember Jimmy Carter who was the worst president we've ever had (don't say that around your teachers because they worship him like a god, tards) then Bush 1 whos had a good economy and screwed it up by taxing the people who provide jobs...duh. The Clinton, who wasn't as bad as I expected other than giving the Chinese nuclear tech so their missels can now hit us (they couldn't before that moron gave them the tech) and now Bush 2... who may be the anti-christ.... Now were hosed no mattr which one of the idiots running now gets in, they both want to make us less free.

Ok, now I'm done... trust me when I tell you, you don't want to get me or Bilbo on politics, it can get ugly pretty fast.
