| Really it isn't hard at all. All you would need is running gear (batteries, radio, charger, etc), a car, and a few sets of tires that work at your local track. The only issue is that maybe your local track doesn't run electric off-road, but if they do go there on a race day and ask as many questions that you can (as long as the racer isn't too bussy).
The next thing you would want to do if they offer an electric class is look into a BL set-up (I think you have that already) that will fit in their rules. If running mod I wouldn't get anything bigger then a 10.5 when starting out. The biggest thing is to ask where you should start out over at the track.
To get into racing it can be cheep, or you can spend 1000's, that is all up to you. One thing to keep in mind as long as your car is set-up right, you can be just as fast as the FT drivers with low end equiment (driver skill will win more races, then your top of the line cutting edge car)

| I run a T4 in the 10th scale truck classes (mostly mod, but every now and then stock, and spec (19T)), then I use a bj4 we in the 4wd buggy class, a RB5 for 2wd buggy, a TC5 (the car I am getting ready for my race in my avatar) for TC racing, and then a rc10gt for the nitro 10th scale truck class.
Anyways if you want to really get into racing a truck a T4, or the xxx-t (mf1, mf2, crt) would be your best bet for truck racing. The evader is ok, but the olds ones were better then the ext's, although once your skill level comes up the evader will hold you back a little on the track. Another truck to look into later on is the RT5 (that is still a prototype).
For 2wd buggies, the B4, xxx-cr, or RB5 are the big 3, but there are a few others that are ok.
For 4wd buggies, the B44, BJ4 (and the worlds ed.), ZX5-SP or FX, or the xxx-4 (for smoth tracks) would be your best bets. Again there are a few others that are good, but those are the better ones for the most part.
^^BTW that is for if you really want to get into racing, and only run the car on a track most of the time, but if you want a car to play around with more the racing to try to win, then almost any car you can get parts for could make a fun day at the track. Although sometimes you will have more fun with a car made to race (they can be bashed, but not quite as tough as a car made to bash)
