| I've got my best friends son coming to stay with me for two weeks while his father does his National Guard service; I have too many expensive or breakable RC toys sitting around and it would be mean to tell him he couldn't use any of them. I know I could just move them for the two weeks but instead I thought I'd pick up something cheap and durable so that he could have something to bash while he's here. I thought about just letting him use one of my Mini Baja's or my Slider but I have found they are pretty easy to break. So, I figure I'll pick up something simple and cheap on ebay...the Evader comes to mind. I know you can find them cheap, I've heard they suck for racing but are good for bashing.
So, is that true? Are they hard to break, easy to control (for someone who doesn't have RCs) and simple to fix? I'm hoping someone here will have one so they can tell me if this would be a good choice. I've seen them go on ebay for around $50 RTR...in well used condition of course. That would be a lot cheaper than finding parts for my F1 or any of the pan cars, and since I'm about to do some building with the Wheely King it's not getting loaned out either.
Oh, if you see one for sale cheap please let me know, or, if you can think of another cheap durable buggy/truggy, I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

| Don't know about the Evader but the Vendetta will break but the plastic parts have a year warranty (the wife has one and I was begining to think is on first name basis with their parts department.) I have a couple of Pro-Pulses (now Megatech), smaller scale (18th) but they are hard to break. I'm not easy on mine. | |

| I hate the motors in them, theyll last about 80 packs. in the Propulse. You can get them for 50 on ebay(refurbished) and all u need is a charger and batterpack. If you wanted to I have a roller with steel diff gears and somealuminum cvds. I even got a batt pack and a charger. all you would need is a receiver controller motor and servo. I ran mine to much and kept blowing motors. | |

| If you can find one of the older evader trucks then they will handle good on the track, but the newer ones just aren't that good (of course it is just a old Losi XX-T if I remember right).
Just like any truck out there parts will break, and from what I seen from people who ran them, the castor blocks, and steering blocks were the common parts to break.
Also another older truck to look into is a AE T3. Those trucks can still get around the track, and they were a really tough truck. If you find a good deal on one of those, you might want to snatch it up.

| I also know somebody who owns a T3 and they haven't replaced anything yet. He got it used off ebay. That would probably be a good idea as well. The evader just looks cheap. | |

| Wow, I didn't expect this much of a response, there are some good ideas here, I'll have to think about it a little. That is unless I win a bid in ebay for an RC10 that looks like its in good shape, I could even use the parts afterwards to rebuild a wire framed sprint car I tore down for parts about a year ago. I doubt if I'll win, I'm guessing a few people are waiting until ten or twelve seconds before the end of the auction. | |

| well i happen to own the evader pro... and its a pretty sweet car imo, as long as you keep the diff tight and don't plan on dropping anything under probally a 15t and playing havoc on the tranny all you'll need is a mg servo... and i can beat the life outa my pro and it've only busted ONE! a arm, on it, if you get a mg servoi you'll thank you're self for that too, other than that, you'll want to upgrade the tranny if you go faster than a 15t well i bet you could get away with a 12 t if you didn't wail on the tranny it handles decent i guess... its pretty tuneable and plenty fast for a new person

| I like the way you think, I got sniped on the rc10 but I did win a decked out micro t: aluminium gear box, oil filled shocks, lipo, threaded axles, aluminum hubs front and rear and some other minor stuff for $45...radio and all electronics included. So I'll just let him use my stock micro t and I'll use this one for a build I have coming up as soon as Ripper7777 gets me one of his custom micro t stock car chassis'. | |
