| You say that now, but trust me, you wont need another charger for more than 5 years! I love mine, and have never had a problem with it! | |

| not nicad, nimhs are better now days, they have a higher capacity, are more durable, and have higher voltage ratings. | |

| That looks good. But before you buy it ask Shaun(he'll probably see this, if not you could PM him). I think it was him (on another site we were on) who posted a link to a discount battery place. They had great deals and even custom made packs... I want to say it was something like cheapbatteries.com but I'm not sure now...there is a cheapbatteries.com but he may have had a different place that is cheaper. | |

| www.cheapbatterypacks.com They are not cheapo batteries, and the quality is far from cheap. What charger are you using right now? The Super Brain 960 is a very nice charger, and can be purchased for $50 brand new. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=MRCRB960Its been a great charger so far, I have it for around 2 years. For batteries I would suggest either going through www.maxamps.comwww.cheapbatterypacks.comI would really recommend a 977 like MTM posted, a good charger will last you a long time, and take car of you, and your batteries. How ever for some cheap run around battery packs, when you go into your local hobby shop, they should have some 1500mah NICD packs for around $12-$14. | |

| Now the super brain 960 doesn't charge lipo batteries. But its a good nicd/nimh charger.
The only problem with "fast chargers" is that, when you charge a battery at a high amperage rate, its really hard on the cells, and the life time of that battery will die quickly.
I normally charge my packs at 3.0amps, and thats even a little high. It doesn't take much longer either, I would say about 20-30 minutes(total time). Normally at comps I run a 1500 2/3A 6 cell flat pack, I can charge it at 1.5amps, in between runs, and it will be done in about 35-45 minutes.
The wait seems long, but its the best thing when you can do with your batteries, I run 3000mah packs in my drifter, and last time I ran, I got a little over an hour of runtime.

| That's pretty good, I get about 25 minutes of run time with a 1800 nicad that I charge at 1.5 amps. And I'm running a 12 turn double in it too. Now with my other pack I charge at 3.0 amps, it's about 10 minutes of run time. That just shows that taking care of your batteries pays off, and a little wait won't hurt anything except patience. Plus I forgot to mention that a battery charging at3.0 amps takes a lot longer to cool down than a battery charged at 1.5 amps because the stress on the cells is so high.

| One thing though, if you're just bashing then a couple of $12 packs and a cheap quick charger is great because you can charge one pack while you kill another one or two. And at $12-15 a pack or so who cares if you kill them a little sooner?
If your racing you should be using a racing only pack anyway, there's no reason to kill a good pack just bashing.

| I charge my 2/3 1500 6 packs at 2.20 amps (mostly for racing) and i still get a good 35 minutes on them, but i get amazing performance very similar to a lipo. | |

| it all on how you charge the packs, the lower the amp rate, the more run time, the higher the amps, you get more voltage, and better performance. Thats general rule supposedly works for nicads and nimhs only, but the racers have been axperimenting, and its looking like lipos are affected the same way | |

| I would personally go for a 3300mah pack or higher if your going to race every now and then. It will give you the 5min run times you need if you charge it at a higher rate to increase the voltage. | |
