| Well, it depends on club rules if you're going to race but if you just want speed the Team Associated RC10TC3 is good starting point. They had one a while back that set the RC speed record at 111mph. Of course it wasn't anywhere near stock but it does show the potential. | |

| They are all very good cars. I think you'll find that you'd be happy with any of them. most of the 1/10 scale stuff if very good anymore and it really comes down to choice of electronics. If you don't mind spending some money check out custom works they had one highly modified car that did an unoffical 169mph (I think it was 169...its was ungodly fast anyway) but they couldn't make the return pass to make it offical because the driver lost it and crashed breaking stuff pretty badly. Anyways, custom works makes some great stuff...I know they are mostly known for their sprints but their road cars are just as impressive. | |

| I'd go with a hpi nitro rs4, they are reliable, and come with ok electronics. Plus they are not too expensive. | |

| 4tec is probably not going to be the fastest.
When your racing you don't need a fast car, you want something that handles. When your racing you will only reach top speed maybe once or twice a lap.
Also, most of the time racers don't like to use there race cars for bashers, theres just to much money involved in a race car to take a chance at something happening to it.
You seem to want a lot of cars.
Make your self out a list, and realistically add parts that you need for the cars you want. Start checking the list off, eventually you will have a nice car, then another, and another, and so on.
Also if you want to get into racing, focus on learning things, don't be afraid to ask a few guys in the pits for help. You don't always need the fastest car or the best parts. I have been racing slotcars for two years now, and something that I have learned is about set-up, you think cars(RC and Slot Cars) are simple, but the smallest things can make the biggest difference.
I haven't even started racing yet(money is one problem) but I have been hanging around the local track helping guys out and trying to learn what I can while watching.

| Hes right about everything especially the not using a racer for bashing... I'd die if i let my graphite chassie get destroyed by running it on th easphalt out infront of my house. Its a basic knowledge that a racer is more expensive than a basher (in most cases) so do what shaun said, make a list, and then prioratize it... is it more important to you to build a scale crawler, or get a car to practice with to enter the trans am nationals... Its all up to you. | |

I don't bash, as I only race. And there is no way you will get me to run my cars off of the track. Also one thing you have to keep in mind is there really isn't that many people who race (I think it is about 10% of the people in RC race, although we shape the way cars will be made)
You need to ask your self, will you race more, or bash more. If you race a low powered motor can be fast, as I have ran a 13.5 in the mod class at my local track and I was running in the top 3 the whole day, untill a bad start hurt me in the main (it was in 10th scale truck). So you don't need power to win a race, just drive clean and you should be fine.
Also race cars arn't as tough as a car made to bash, as they are made to go fast around a track at differnt speeds. Cars ment to bash, are made for lots of speed, but not so great handling when on a track.

Not just wrecking it...the wear is going to kill you. In our old F1 club (see my spare parts F1 post ) I used to only run a set of tires for five to seven races...even with the tire conditioner they just don't grip as well as newly scrubbed in tires. Then the motors...we ran electric but the 1/8 scale gas guys were rebuilding the engines constantly. Even with an electric, if you run a good mod motor you're going to rebuild often. Suspension parts wear fast when bashing, you wont notice it much in a parking lot but on a track??? I'm not familiar with the car you're getting but if you're going to race it, I'd get a cheap car for practice and bashing. Check ebay...the Himotos are going pretty cheap and they look like they might be good for everyday use. I've never had one but I'll bet Himotoguy knows something about them.
