| This is a project i've been thinking of for a long time, and i finally have some time and spare change to do it. The plan is to take a 1/36th scale car, and make it go as fast as possiable. So far i have modified a DT chassie to be smooth on the top. I have a mamba 25 esc mounted and ready to go. I also have gotten new micro-t stock tire for the speed runs. I am using all of my aluminum for this project to keep it together for the high speed flip i'm sure it will encounter, and those include: Integy: front and rear hinge blocks front C-hubs Front knuckles GH Racing: Front Bulkhead 3racing: gearbox I also am going to install lois stiff spring all the way arounf to keep the bottom of the chassie from scraping the ground from the downforce of the body. Here is what i have so far: i have some items on the way: BRP wedge body for the DT 3 Aeronuts lipos (2 to make a 4s lipo, and 1 for normal running) Monotuning foam tires (have always wanted them, and i may use them for speed runs for the weight savings) a JR SM22 servo saver and a pack of extra wheel nuts (were on clearence ) I also have yet to get: JR SM22 servo Integy CVD'd Losi Oil Shocks Fiegao 5866kv motor and i have yet to decide on a reciever | |

| Next time your in the LHS check out cheap airplane landing gear wheels for the fronts. They are super light weight, narrow and strong. It would be like the front wheels on a dragster so it should not only cut the rotating mass but it would cut friction and areodynamic drag. It would only work well in a straight line but for a top speed run it should help. Also buy a thin piece of lexan and make a belly pan. The smoother the bottom of the car is the faster it should go.
This sounds like a great project. I challenged some guys at another site to have a top speed shoot out for zip zaps and other tiny scale cars but it didn't get much interest so I never built the car I had planned. Now you've got me thinking of a top speed 1/64th scale car. I'd just have to find a basketball court or some other large very smooth surface to run it. Anyway, keep up the awesome build. | |

| Don't forget gearing! For some reason alot of micro owners forget about the three pinions it comes with. Go big pinion & little spur.

| No it doesn't, the pinion has more teeth and the spur has less, this means that the motor will have to spin less times to rotat the spur, and effectivly the wheels. No i didn't forget about geart, i ust forgot to mention it I am using a 14 tooth pinion from a 20 year old futaba servo, and a 32 tooth gear from the same servo. This gives me a primary ratio of 2.2875 : 1! I have a 25 tooth spur that i might use, but i gota expirement with the motor first. BTW, the 25 tooth wil give me a ratio of 1.7857 : 1! More pics in a bit! Also, i am working on a bottom chassis panel now, i'll get pics up tomarrow. I will think about the aircraft wheels (or maby the modified pinewood derby ones) the only thing about them is the stiff construction, if oyu hit a small peble at 45mph, your car will be a plane if one of the fronts hits it. (but thats why you sweep the strip ) Thanks for all the ideas and comments, keep em coming! | |

| I might look into those i would just need to use spacers to keep the wheel from wobbling. But that miogh tscrub speed, so... Its confusing | |

| Those wont work, ball bearings would just act as a metal bushing as the contact patch here is on the side of the bearing, not a rotating axle through the middle.

| A good shot of teflon spray workd for short runs. But you have to wipe it off afterwards or it gets gummy. | |

| IMO for wheels and tires put on some bald baja wheels and tires. I am sure you could find them from somebody. I like the rip design on the bottom makes it a little more snazzy. | |

| baja 5b wheels cuz i don't think that motor could handle them i just had to say it but the micro baja wheels would be good, at least in the front and foams in the rear maybe the lug | |

| I'm thinking of narrowing the front foams, i dont really know yet though. I first have to get the car running before i can expirement with those things. | |

| I think rear foams would be a good starting point, but wheelies may become a problem with that. And r/c tv live just did a thingy on foams and how to narrow/true them etc. not too long ago.

| Great choice of body...you can never go wrong with a dirt late model BTW, where did you get the foams? I made some from a bike faom grip a while back but it would be so much easier just to buy them. | |

| It looks like you didn't round the edges, that can lead to chunking. Put them in a truer and use a nail file or some fine sandpaper to round out the edges.
